Mission in Katondwe Hospital
Medical, educational and social aid
For 60 years now, we have been providing medical, educational and social aid in Zambia, a country in the southern part of Africa. However, the functioning of the Katondwe Mission Hospital would not be possible without the committed local personnel and great support from our Friends from all over the world.

Little Pawełek (Paul) faces huge challenges - cerebral palsy and a recent leg fracture. And yet he is not alone in all this. Thanks to the careful care of Dr. Zelippa and our team, every day becomes a little lighter.
Helping the youngest is more than a gesture - it's about building a safe world for them to smile, grow and simply be children.

May the end of the year be gentle, and may the new one bring more balance and smiles. Wishing you all the best and good health, dear ones.
Warm greetings from Katondwe :-)
These were days of intense work, immense commitment, and life-changing support for patients who, in local conditions, often have no access to specialized medical care.
Thanks to the expertise, determination, and compassion of the entire team, numerous complex procedures were performed, and invaluable knowledge was passed on to the local medical staff.
In September, we had pleasure to welcoming wonderful volunteers in our hospital – Dr. Adam, a neonatologist, and Ms. Kasia, a physiotherapist.
They truly had their hands full! In addition to treating and helping our patients, they devoted themselves wholeheartedly to training and supporting our team. We are grateful for your presence and your big hearts!

Dear Friends,
Today, together with Dr. Bartek Osadnik from the Afriquia Foundation, we ask for your support. So far, we have performed over 60 demanding orthopedic surgeries together, but this is just a drop in the ocean of needs. Thanks to the hard work of doctors, dozens of children have been able to start walking and experience the joy of childhood without suffering.

In doing so, you shape the future by caring for the safety and health of our community. Thank you for your dedication and your big hearts!

Unfortunately, our Hospital’s needs for medical supplies and equipment are very high. As our resources are severely limited, we are trying to face the subsequent challenges in a proper order. The most urgent needs are secured thanks to your contributions to our specific fundraisers.

How we help - a few words about Katondwe hospital
For 60 years, the Katondwe Mission Hospital has been providing medical help to the people of Zambia, Mozambique and Zimbabwe in Africa. As one of very few medical centres within 250 kilometres, it provides the local population with free medical care in several wards: paediatrics, internal medicine (female and male), gynaecology and obstetrics, and palliative care. A professional operating theatre and a diagnostic imaging lab (ultrasound, X-ray) are available for our patients. We also have a GP outpatient surgery, where many preventive and educational actions are organised on an ongoing basis. We also organise field medical programmes, which allow us to reach out to those in need who cannot come on their own to the hospital .
The Katondwe Mission Hospital is run by the nuns from the Congregation of Little Servant Sisters of the Immaculate Conception (Siostry Służebniczki Starowiejskie) from Poland. Thanks to their work, it continues to develop, providing medical care at the highest possible level. Our hospital may admit up to 100 patients simultaneously. We are still looking for new solutions to improve the health care for the people of the Luangwa Valley.
Through our eyes
"Coming to Katondwe proved to be one of the best decisions of my life. My time at the mission has been not only a test of my medical skills but has also brought many new friendships and challenges. That remote village, somewhere deep in the forest, on the other side of the equator, has stayed in my heart forever and has been motivating me to keep on acting… both there, in the Hospital, and in Poland – where I try to encourage others to give help".Filip Styrzyński, MD
Through our eyes
"I came to the mission in Katondwe in 1990. Since then, the hospital has developed a lot thanks to our hard work. We can now offer beds for more than 100 additional patients – it is a lot, but still not enough to meet the medical needs in our area. During this time, we have also launched a hospital daycare centre for children and a branch of the nursing school."Sister Mirosława Góra – a surgeon, Director of the Hospital
Through our eyes
A Polish orthopedic surgeon has once again visited the hospital in Katondwe, Zambia, to provide medical assistance and support to the local community. Despite being located in one of the most remote areas of the world, the hospital plays a crucial role in delivering healthcare to the region’s residents. "The hospital in Katondwe is at the ‘end of the world,’ in a place where access to medical care is extremely limited. The local people face serious health challenges, and specialized medical help is desperately needed," the doctor explains. His dedication, along with the work of the medical team, not only helps save lives but also brings hope for a better future.Bartłomiej Osadnik, orthopedic surgeon
Through our eyes
"As always, life has quite rapidly and accurately verified my idea about this place. The hospital is big, hires lots of medical and technical staff and every single day helps over two hundred patients including children, pregnant women, victims of traffic accidents or people bit by wild animals. Can you imagine that the entity got connected to the electricity grid only two years ago? Honestly, I can't. I enormously respect the work of the hospital's management, their unconditional devotion and sacrifice. I am glad I could have the experience of working there and that I could help. Now, being back in Poland, I can better understand the hospital's reality so I can tailor our actions accordingly to what the institution needs."Wiktor, TME Projekt Katondwe
